Welcome, Dear Reader!
Below you’ll find stories and books that can be purchased through various retailers, information on works in progress, and best of all, free downloadable eBooks.
I write in a variety of genres. Those stories with a lighter touch (things like cozy fantasy, middle grade, or inspirational fiction) I write under the name Natasha Inwood. Those with a grittier, heavier feel (think sword and sorcery and dark fantasy) are written under the name Natasha Banner.

Wyngraf: The Magazine of Cozy Fantasy - Volume 4
“The Woodworker’s Guest”, which shares a setting with “The Road to Fjallmark”, was published in Wyngraf: The Magazine of Cozy Fantasy, volume 4.
Drazhen Agapov is a talented woodworker who has everything his heart could desire, but when tragedy strikes and takes it all away, he retreats into isolation, overwhelmed by sorrow. Then one day, a strange visitor calls upon him and leaves a gift that will force him to confront his grief…and it might just bring hope and healing as well.
Note: This story is part of the Tales from the Nightgate Inn collection, but will only be available through Wyngraf for the time being.
Works in Progress
Tales from the Nightgate Inn
Ever wanted to take a walk through the wilds of Skyrim, enjoy a pint with friends at the Prancing Pony, or warm yourself by a campfire in the snowy woods after a day of adventuring?
Then welcome to Forsbyr, a small mining town tucked away in the mountains of cold, frosty Mailenstead. Grab a tankard of mead and make yourself at home in the great, hearth-lit hall of the Nightgate Inn and get to know the locals.
Thirteen years have passed since Neea Kallenen left Forsbyr abruptly as a girl. Now a full-fledged member of the Scholar’s Guild, she, along with her apprentice Pim, has returned to the town of her childhood to serve as its Scholar General. Will the people of Forsbyr accept her as one of their own? Will she be able to heal the wound of her past, rekindle forgotten friendships, and perhaps reignite a long lost love?
In this collection of tales, you’ll meet a variety of characters as Neea and Pim explore and try to unravel the mysteries and magic of the town and the surrounding wilderness.
There’s Drazhen, the lonely woodworker who has shut himself away in a hut in the woods; Rikkar, the handsome smith in love with Neea, but engaged to another woman; Hedda, the kindly washerwoman who cares for her grown, simple-minded son; the new innkeeper, Tyr, and his sister, Indra, who hides a mysterious secret; Jan and Jorgen, a pair of mischievous halfling twins who keep everyone on their toes; and many more.
Each story is written with its own unique style and flair. Some are humorous, while others are full of adventure and mystery, and still others tug at the heartstrings. But each one is infused with a sense of wonder, magic, coziness, and warmth that can only be found around the hearth of the Nightgate Inn.
This is a work in progress, with at least twelve stories planned for the collection. If you would like to receive project updates, worldbuilding specials, and free stories, sign up for my newsletter. You can find the signup form on the sidebar.
All new subscribers will receive the free story, “Homecoming”, as an eBook.
“Homecoming” is the first story, chronologically, in Tales from the Nightgate Inn, and it is the perfect introduction to the two stories published in Wyngraf!

Natasha Banner Stories
I have a variety of projects, some complete, and others in progress, under the name Natasha Banner. When you sign up for my newsletter, I’ll also send you a copy of my dark fantasy story, “The Marked Man”, as well as my sword and sorcery story, “Khelyon and the Desert Golem.” You’ll also get updates on my Natasha Banner projects, as well as specials and additional free stories.
The Marked Man
Set in a secondary world inspired by the Bronze Age Near East, “The Marked Man” is a dark fantasy with elements of cosmic horror that examines themes of both redemption and the limits of evil.
Eshan, having committed a grave offense against his family, finds himself marked by a dark god. Compelled by the god to carry out an act of immense evil, will Eshan succumb to its will, or can he break free of the god’s hold over him before his soul is lost forever?
“The Marked Man,” received Honorable Mention in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest in the 4th quarter of 2021.
Khelyon and the Desert Golem
Journey to a land inspired by the Bronze Age Levant and meet the legendary hero Khelyon. The offspring of a wealthy Lakashian farmer and a foreign slave, Khelyon grew up as an outcast amongst his people. But his valor and courage in battle propelled him into the highest ranks of the army, eventually winning him the hand of the princess of Lakash.
But all is not well in the kingdom. Lakash’s king, Sirach, has gone mad, and a growing darkness is falling across the land. Fleeing an assassination attempt, Khelyon makes his way to the Akhal Desert on a quest to find the exiled priest, Ismahel. But he is pursued by Sirach’s forces. Will he escape them before it is too late? And will he be able to stand against the mystical creature that guards the desert’s gates.
